Common browser use cases to test

This page owns file-editing intent. It is for an audio file already on your device, not live YouTube, Twitch, Zoom, or other tab audio. For live playback, use the Chrome equalizer extension guide.

On the free tier, Hearably Studio accepts audio files up to 50 MB, allows three uploads per day, previews 30 seconds, exposes three EQ bands, and caps boost at 120%. Pro raises the file limit to 500 MB, removes the daily upload cap, unlocks the full 10-band EQ and boost range, and adds the current Pro export and processing controls.

The browser decodes the selected file and processes PCM locally with Web Audio nodes. The W3C specification describes BiquadFilterNode as a standard building block for tone controls and graphic equalizers. Browser codec support still varies by browser, operating system, and source file.

Local audio processing does not mean the page makes no network requests: the website loads code and assets, analytics can run, and Pro authentication or model downloads use network services. The selected audio file is not uploaded to Hearably for the EQ path.

What the EQ Changes—and What It Cannot Repair

Each enabled band changes a region around its center frequency. Boosting adds energy and consumes headroom; cutting can reduce a problem region without raising the whole signal. Adjacent filters overlap, so several large boosts can produce a much larger combined change than one slider suggests.

Use small moves, compare with bypass, and listen on the output devices that matter. EQ cannot restore frequencies never captured by the microphone or removed by a lossy source. It can also emphasize hiss, room noise, sibilance, or codec artifacts.

The limiter controls new sample peaks in the current DSP path, with raw synthetic results published in the browser-audio limiter benchmark. That does not guarantee transparent sound or protect against speaker and headphone overload.

How to get the best audio on Online Audio Equalizer for Local Files

1

Confirm the task is file editing

Use this owner for a local file. Use the extension workflow for live browser-tab audio.

2

Start with cuts and small moves

Large boosts consume headroom quickly and can emphasize noise or harshness.

3

Compare with bypass

Judge tonal balance, noise, and dynamics—not only which version is louder.

4

Check the current tier limits

Free has 3 bands, 30 seconds, 3 daily uploads, 50 MB, and 120% boost. Pro unlocks the full control set.

5

Verify codec support in your browser

The accepted filename is not proof that every browser/OS decoder supports the underlying codec.

6

Keep the original file

Export to a new file and retain the source so every edit is reversible.

Frequently asked questions

Is the 10-band EQ free?

No. Free exposes three bands. Pro unlocks all ten bands.

What are the free limits?

Three uploads per day, 50 MB per audio file, a 30-second preview, 120% boost, and three EQ bands.

What does Pro change?

Pro raises the file limit to 500 MB, removes the daily upload cap, unlocks the full 10-band EQ and boost range, and enables the current Pro tools.

Is my file uploaded for EQ processing?

The EQ path decodes and processes the selected file locally in the browser rather than uploading it to Hearably.

Does the page make any network requests?

Yes. Site assets, analytics, authentication, billing, and optional model downloads are separate network boundaries.

Will every audio codec work?

No universal codec guarantee is made. Decode support varies by browser, operating system, and file.

Can EQ remove all distortion or noise?

No. EQ can reshape frequency balance but cannot reconstruct missing information or clean every artifact.

How is this different from the extension?

This tool edits a local file. The extension processes supported live browser-tab audio.
