Discord volume booster for quiet browser audio
Check individual voices and streams first. Compare a small boost on supported Discord tab audio in Chrome or Edge.
Chrome & Edge · Local audio processing
For one quiet Discord participant, use their individual volume first. For a quiet whole call, check your output. For a quiet stream, investigate its source and player. A tab booster affects the combined sound you receive; it does not repair another person’s microphone.
Choose the right Discord volume control
| What is happening | Start here | Limit of a tab booster |
|---|---|---|
| One person is quieter than the others | Open their context menu and adjust their individual volume. | Boosting the whole tab also raises the other voices. |
| Every incoming voice is quiet | Check mute/deafen, output device and playback level. | Try a small boost only after normal audio is audible. |
| The stream is quiet but voices are clear | Check available stream controls and the source at the sender. | Gain cannot recover audio that was not shared. |
| People say your microphone is quiet | Check your input device, input volume and microphone test. | Incoming playback processing does not change your outgoing voice. |
| Game or music volume drops during speech | Check Discord desktop attenuation; the article below explains it. | Increasing a browser tab is not a system-wide ducking control. |
| Speech breaks up or disappears | Investigate the input and connection before adding gain. | Lost or clipped speech cannot be reconstructed. |
Balance individual voices before the whole tab
On desktop or web, right-click the person in the voice call or channel and adjust their volume, as shown in Discord’s individual-volume guide. Keep other voices at their normal level while comparing. If that person is still faint or distorted, ask them to check their microphone setup.
For the whole call, use User Settings → Voice & Video to check the selected output and volume. Input settings affect what others hear. The official troubleshooting guide covers the separate directions. For desktop volume ducking, see the attenuation section in our full Discord guide.
Where Hearably Free and Pro fit
Free offers up to 120% gain and a 3-band EQ with no account required. Pro adds up to 800%, a 10-band EQ, Voice Boost and Night Mode; the plan comparison lists the features. Start with Free on your actual Discord tab. Buying Pro does not make an unsupported capture path work.
Use a regular desktop Chrome or Edge tab. The extension does not control the native Discord app, mobile apps or your outgoing microphone. It does not separate the voices and stream already mixed in that tab.
A short comparison before your next session
- Use a test conversation with a willing friend. Confirm normal playback first and keep the same headset and device volume.
- Enable Hearably on the Discord tab with flat EQ at 100%. Confirm that the call still plays.
- Compare the same phrase at a small increase up to Free’s 120%. Check another voice and a stream too if you will use them together.
- Switch back to the original. Keep the change only if it helps; more gain can also raise hiss, music and loud voices.
If playback stops, crackles or drifts out of sync: turn enhancement off first. Reload the tab or rejoin when it will not interrupt the conversation. Keep processing off if ordinary playback works but the adjusted path does not.

A louder Discord tab is still a mixed audio source
Hearably adjusts supported received tab audio after Discord delivers it. Gain affects the combined level, and EQ affects frequency balance. Neither gives the extension a separate participant track. A stream’s game audio and speech can therefore get louder together.
Pro’s dynamics controls can change how levels vary, but they do not guarantee equal participant loudness or recover a damaged microphone signal. The maximum gain setting is a control range, not a promise of eight times the perceived loudness. Start near the original level and lower it if the result becomes harsh or distorted.
Discord’s attenuation guide addresses a different problem: the desktop client lowering other audio during speech. Use the relevant native setting rather than compensating with more browser gain.
Evidence: Discord’s manufacturer guidance reviewed on October 6, 2026. The comparison above is an editorial diagnostic procedure, not a hands-on Discord capture, latency or device test. Hearably makes the extension described here.
Checks for your Discord session
One quiet friend
Adjust that person’s native volume before the combined call. Ask them to investigate their microphone if the voice remains weak or distorted.
A shared stream
Compare the stream with voices separately. Note whether only one sender’s stream is affected; this helps distinguish a source problem from your output.
A headset change
Recheck the selected input and output after connecting another device. A microphone problem and a speaker problem need separate adjustments.
Game audio gets quieter
Check whether the desktop client is lowering other sound during speech. The linked troubleshooting article covers attenuation; the browser extension is not a system volume controller.
A useful support report
Note web, desktop or mobile client; operating system; output device; affected source; and the last change that helped. No private call recording is needed for this checklist.
Built for this exact use case
Try Free up to 120%
Compare modest gain on supported incoming Discord tab audio without an account.
3-band or 10-band EQ
Free includes three bands; Pro adds ten for more detailed tonal adjustments.
Optional Pro processing
Pro includes Voice Boost, Night Mode and gain controls up to 800%; results depend on the received source.
Keep the original as a reference
Compare the same voice with processing off and on while keeping device volume fixed.
Test tab audio in three steps
Install
Add Hearably from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons.
Check playback
Open Hearably on the playing tab and start processing. Confirm that audio still plays before changing settings.
Compare
Try a small volume or EQ adjustment. Stop processing and reload the tab if playback is disrupted.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make Discord louder in Chrome or Edge?
Check the relevant native volume control and output first. If the combined incoming tab audio remains quiet and capture is supported, compare Hearably Free at 100% and up to 120% with flat EQ.
Can I make one Discord person louder?
Use that person’s individual Discord volume control first. Hearably processes combined tab audio and cannot isolate a participant from the rest of the call.
Is this Discord volume booster free?
Hearably Free includes up to 120% gain and a 3-band EQ without an account. Pro adds up to 800%, 10-band EQ, Voice Boost and Night Mode. Start by testing Free on your actual tab.
Will Hearably boost the native Discord app?
No. This extension works with supported browser tab audio. It does not control the native Discord desktop app, mobile apps or system-wide audio.
Will it make my Discord microphone louder?
No. Input volume and microphone setup determine what other people hear. Hearably changes supported incoming playback on your device.
Why is a Discord stream quiet while voices are loud?
The stream and conversation are separate sources before playback. Check available stream controls and ask the sender to check their source. Boosting the combined tab can make already-loud voices louder too.
Can Pro normalize each participant separately?
No. The extension receives mixed tab audio, not separate participant tracks. Dynamics controls can alter the mix but do not guarantee equal voice levels or reconstruct missing speech.
What should I do if enabling processing interrupts audio?
Turn enhancement off first. If necessary, reload the tab or rejoin at a suitable point. Keep it off when normal playback works but capture or processing does not. Upgrading does not remove capture restrictions.
